Aquion is a hedge fund startup. Currently with a profitable automated Minimum Viable Product (MVP) live trading. To enhance our performance, we’re raising capital to build further trading systems and automated risk management overlays.
Our experience is it’s relatively easy to make money in markets, it’s very difficult to keep it. We focus on building robust, uncorrelated systems to generate profit while overlaying automated risk management for capital preservation.

CEO - Bradford Pope McArthur CMT
Bradford is a trader, risk manager, algorithm builder and Chartered Market Technician (CMT). He’s a crypto skeptic, but as a market agnostic has built years of deep experience in crypto. As a discretionary trader he outperformed BTC and the S&P from 2018–22, built Aquion’s MVP in five months, and helps organize a 2,600+ member traders’ club in Vancouver (VTIC & Study Group). His background includes work in energy, tourism, and media—and a past career as a professional climber/whitewater kayaking athlete & adventure photographer who filmed with National Geographic from the Arctic to Antarctica. CTO - Hossam Mohammed
Hossam is a technology leader specializing in intelligent decision systems that operate reliably at scale. His work focuses on translating advanced machine learning into resilient systems that remain robust under real-world constraints such as latency, non-linear data conditions, and balancing deployment environments with compute and efficiency. He has architected AI platforms delivering millions of adaptive decisions each week, combining predictive intelligence with modern AI workflows while prioritizing governance, monitoring, and operational reliability. Delivering 30% uplift, cutting manual review by 40% and achieving 3x faster inference with 60% smaller models. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research, taught machine learning and holds a MSc in ML from UBC.
Head of Trading Systems - Raimi Azeez
Raimi is a Python quantitative developer and data scientist focused on taking trading strategies from research to reliable live execution. He has delivered trading and analytics systems for hedge funds, solo traders, and startups, spanning data engineering, model development, and production deployment. At Xavier McAllister Holdings, he advanced from Data Analyst to Partner within two years - demonstrating strong ownership, judgment, and execution. Raimi holds a Masters in Financial Engineering and authored Code to Profit, a practical guide to deploying and implementing automated strategies.
Board Member - Aaron Samsonoff
Founder-operator with four exits across ad-tech and digital assets. Co-founder and former COO of InvestDEFY, a structured-products and AI analytics platform for crypto. Earlier built one of ad-tech’s first high-frequency arbitrage engines at Samsonoff Media and helped scale Qool Media through acquisition. Founding Partner at CTR Capital Fund with early bets across disruptive tech, including several $1B+ DeFi protocols. Active in crypto since 2013 (BTC, ETH, early DeFi). Aaron brings product, market-structure, and execution depth to Aquion, with focus on ML-driven strategy design, institutional partnerships, and go-to-market.
Advisor - Sean Chan
Sean has over 16 years of experience in corporate finance, investment management, and family office strategy. As our fund-raising specialist with a deep global network, Sean has held C-level roles across multiple companies and has been directly involved in more than $1.5 billion in investment and business transactions spanning capital markets, real estate, and alternative assets. As Founder of the Circle of Single Family Offices (CSFO) and advisor to several fintech and trading firms, Sean brings deep financial, strategic, and fundraising expertise to Aquion’s advisory team.
